Target Sprint National Series Finals

Date: 22nd Sep 2019 Author: Scout Websites

After the local competition back in May where a number of entrants from the competition qualified for the National Series Finals. On 22nd September 2019 the National Series Finals took place at the Yate outdoor sports complex. It was a wet day and challenging for all athletes. However representing 21st Romsey/Draco were Bethan, Cassi and Matthew.

The heats were competitive and all three qualified for the finals in each of their categories. Bethan struggling with a shoulder injury in the heats but still continued to take on the rest of the pack in the finals where she had a better shoot and put in a personal best of 8m 56s a full 43 secs faster than the heats. Cassi looked tired on the last lap but again managed a personal best in the final taking 12 seconds off her heat time with a PB of 8m 29sec. Matthew achieved a personal best in the heats of 6m 11s, didn’t feel up to the final but had a go any way and was only 7 seconds off his personal best achieved earlier in the day.

Some great results for them all.

Cassi and Bethan were using the training for the competitions as the physical element of their DofE Bronze.
