Scouts and Explorers Go Gliding
With thanks to Karl Kurn the 2016 Worshipful Master at Pax Hill Lodge of Freemasons who has arranged for a number of scouts and explorers within Hampshire to go gliding. Through raffles and auctions enough was raised to make this happen. 21st Romsey & Draco Explorers were among those lucky enough to be offered some spaces. Thanks also go out to Shalbourne Gliding pilots and ground crew who looked after us.
On Friday 24th June 2016
From 21st Romsey Scouts- Toby, Bradley, Charlie, Caitlin and although he only turned up to spectate, Karl managed to surprise MatthewB and sent him up too.
From Draco explorers – Lauren, Colin, Jas, Sophia & Ruby
Pictures and videos can be seen on this LINK
There are some inflight videos captured in Lauren/Matthew folders
Everyone enjoyed the experience and had between 10 and 15 minutes flight time, some able to have a go at controlling the glider too. We were lucky with the weather, Colin and Ruby were grounded for about 15 minutes whilst a shower passed over and we had a double Rainbow. Colin commented that the rainbow was more vivid whilst in the air.
