Scout Camp 2014

Date: 25th Aug 2014 Author: Scout Websites

This year’s camp took us back to Biblin’s – a great site on the banks of the River Wye, near Monmouth.

Having set-up the camp we spent the first couple of days honing our kayaking skills, first with a down-river trip to Monmouth, then up-river to practise ferry-gliding at the base of the Symond’s Yat rapids. On the third day it was time to face the rapids itself – a short, but exhilarating trip!

By mid-week it was time to turn our attention to land-based activities, challenging ourselves with with a ropes course.

We also found time for games, hikes, star-gazing and cooking – including home-made pizzas in cardboard ovens.

A great time had by all – thanks to all Scouts, Explorers, Young Leaders and Leaders for making it so.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
